Pastor Carla M. Mitchell
The Reverend Carla M. Mitchell “Pastor Carla” is the Pastor of St. Peter’s AMEC and is a native of Milwaukee, WI. She is the daughter of Evangelist Christine Mitchell and the late Thomas E. Mitchell, Sr. MOST importantly ~ Rev. Carla is a beloved daughter of God!
Rev. Carla received her Master of Divinity Degree from Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary in Evanston, IL. She earned her Bachelor of Science Degree from Tennessee State University in Nashville, TN.
Rev. Carla was blessed with a fulfilling professional career in telecommunications working for some of the country’s top Fortune 50 corporations in Wisconsin, Illinois and Texas. She is an experienced negotiator and trained mediator with extensive experience in Elder, Family, Business and Small Claims and Child Placement mediation.
Pastor Carla responded to God’s call to preach the “Good News of Jesus Christ” in 2012 preaching her first sermon in March of that same year at her home church – St. Mark AME in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, In September 2017, she was ordained an Itinerant Elder in the African Methodist Episcopal Church.
Pastor Carla was appointed to St. Peter’s AME Church on Sept. 30, 2017 and is the first female pastor to serve at this historic church.
Pastor Carla is the author of the book “Dialogue of the Heart & Mind; Thoughts on Love and Relationships” and in addition to her book, she has written articles in newspapers in Milwaukee, WI and has contributed to numerous devotionals on a variety of subjects. In addition to writing, she also enjoys golfing, cooking and traveling.
Pastor Carla’s prayer is to always remain open to the movement and direction of God and is humbled to serve as the Shepherd of this loving flock.
The Reverend Gerald Garth, (Local Elder) Associate Minister
Rev. Garth joined St. Peters A.M.E. Church in 1994 and was ordained a Local Deacon in 1999. As a dedicated member of St. Peters he joined the Brotherhood of Ushers, chaired the Richard Allen Men’s Ministry, and managed the Community Reclamation Project for at risk young men and women. In addition, he served on the Steward Board and chaired a Men’s Day celebration. Rev. Garth and his wife Sharon created Dove Ministries to assist individuals with developing a deeper relationship with God by teaching strong spiritual characteristics, and leadership skills which individuals use to plan and execute their Christian life’s goals. Through Dove Ministries they also assist Churches in the development of membership growth strategies through financial and legacy planning. Rev. Garth currently serves on the ministerial staff of St. Peters A.M.E. Church and facilitates the Prayer Ministry.
The Reverend William Jackson, (Superannuate) Associate Minister
Rev. Jackson served in the United States Army for two years and was discharged with honors. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Kansas. Rev. Jackson was called to ministry in 1995, after which he received a Bachelor of Arts from Athens State University in 1999 Majoring in Religious Studies. His ministry began at St. Peter’s and after planting and pastoring a church in Huntsville, AL for nearly 10 years, he returned to his beginning. Rev. William Jackson currently serves as the facilitator of the Bereavement Ministry. In addition to that, Rev. Jackson serves the congregation and community of St. Peter’s in a number of ways.
